About
Dr. Berry’s scholarship focuses on curriculum theory, critical race feminism, qualitative research, and urban teacher education. More specifically, her work addresses the importance of educational memoir in the development of teachers and teacher leaders. Dr. Berry’s early work focuses the use of educational memoir integrated with bell hooks’ notion of engaged pedagogy for African American female pre-service teachers. Subsequently, she has expanded her work to address the use of educational memoir in hooks’ engaged pedagogy for White female pre-service teachers in urban schools and the connections of curriculum theory, critical race feminism, and education through memoir. Dr. Berry’s scholarship continues to examine the connections between curriculum theory, critical race feminism, teacher education, and teacher leadership through such topics as culture, diversity, and social justice.
